Sinatra and New York, John Waters and Baltimore--some artists are forever beholden to their hometowns. Such is the case with seminal garage rockers the Dirtbombs and Detroit. Continuing in the grand tradition of other famous Detroit acts the MC5 and The Stooges, the Dirtbombs filled the '90s and beyond with a fiery mix of garage rock, punk and soul, being the forebears of a garage rock comeback that produced heavy-hitters The White Stripes, who cited bandleader Mick Collins’ earlier band The Gories as a big influence on their sound. Most recently, the Dirtbombs had the honor of performing at the Cannes Film Festival last year in support of the film The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, which featured their song "Chains of Love." The Dirtbombs are currently touring in support of their new LP, We Have You Surrounded.
