Blogger, photographer, poetry, and songwriter Mike Doughty has gone and done it again with his new album Golden Delicious, a ripe and juicy production of singable choruses and undeniable beats. Until he broke up the band in 2000, Doughty was the frontman for Soul Coughing. His previous disc, Haughty Melodic, featured the songs “Busting up a Starbucks” and “Looking at the World From the Bottom of a Well,” and was on the TV shows Grey's Anatomy and Veronica Mars. After a lot of time on the road solo, he’s been touring with a full band, fleshing out his acoustic guitar sound with Pete McNeal on drums, John Kirby on electronic piano and Andrew "Scrap" Livingston on bass, guitar, and cello.
