Over the Rhine is the husband-and-wife team Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist along with the occasional "hired guns" for albums and tours. As a band, they developed a large and intensely loyal following in their native home, Cincinnati, Ohio, before they independently released their first two albums, Till We Have Faces (1991) and Patience (1992). Their music, which they aptly dubbed "post-nuclear, pseudo-alternative, folk-tinged art-pop," is difficult to pigeonhole. Yet after more than 15 years making music, its obvious Over The Rhine is in it for the long haul. Their commitment is emphasized by their latest studio creation, The Trumpet Child.
