There may never have been a band that has evolved more dramatically than RatDog. It began as a laid-back blues ensemble in 1995, but now it has become a snarling rock band that has a fabulous jazz trio at its heart. Of course, all those forms are simply different facets of Bob Weir's unruly musical personality. Bob Weir is most recognized as founding member of the Grateful Dead and an incredible guitar player. Joining Weir in Ratdog are bassist Rob Wasserman and former Primus drummer Jay Lane. Ratdog’s music covers the majority of the Grateful Dead songbook, including Garcia classics like “St. Stephen," as well as Weir's solo repertoire. In 2000, RatDog released its first album, Evening Moods, followed by Live at Roseland, a double-CD from a Portland, Oregon show, and a big favorite among Dead Heads. Their latest offering is RatDog Live CD series which starts in the fall of 2003 and continues through last year's fall tour 2007. What a long, strange trip RatDog has been on. And it isn’t even close to being over.
