The Breeders assumed star status in 1991 with the smash single “Cannonball” from the band’s second disc The Last Splash. After some ups and downs, a break-up and a reunion, The Breeders have returned with Mountain Battles, their first LP since 2002's Title TK, to be released in the United States on April 8. Recorded over the course of several years, with recording assistance from Steve Albini, Erika Larson, and Manny Nieto, the disc is a collection of singsong rock lullabies characterized by Kim and Kelley Deal’s precious harmonies and thunderous guitars.
