The redheaded and somewhat coarse stand-up comedian/actor Kathy Griffin gained increased prominence thanks to her role as Brooke Shields' smart-mouthed co-worker on the hit NBC sitcom "Suddenly Susan" (1996-2000). Before that breakthrough, Griffin began her career in commercials in her native Chicago before relocating to L.A. After studying at the Lee Strasberg Institute, Griffin joined the famed improvisational comedy troupe The Groundlings, with whom she worked for seven years. In 1994, she struck out on her own as a stand-up comedian, performing her own show, "Hot Cup of Talk." Griffin soon began to land guest shots on TV series ranging from "ER" to "Mad About You" to "Seinfeld." Currently, Griffin stars in “My Life on the D List” on Bravo.
