Rebel-rousing alt-country act Cross Canadian Ragweed have toured so much they haven’t had to rely on radio play or big-money promotion to garner popularity. They’ve earned it through pure dedication to the road and the soul of Southern rock. CCW started in 1994, playing country-tinged folk-rock to a strong fan base in Texas and Oklahoma before releasing their first album in 2001. Their name is derived from the four original members' surnames: Grady Cross, Cody Canada, Randy Ragsdale and (original bassist) Matt Wiedemann. Cross Canadian Ragweed delivers songs catchier than cactus needles that are a little more rock than country. Co-headlining is Louisiana-based Cowboy Mouth, whose sound embodies New Orleans rock and roll with more hooks and melodies than gumbo has spices. They maintain a very active touring schedule, gaining fans at every new stop. Cowboy Mouth’s most recent album, Voodoo Shoppe, is a tribute to the survivors of Hurricane Katrina.
