Alternative metal band Hurt has a dichotomous sound that blends whispers with roars and crushing power chords with gentle acoustic movements. The convergence of these extremes makes Hurt’s music mainstream enough to fit on rock radio, yet unusual and edgy enough to appeal to the fringes. Traces of Tool, Nirvana, and mid-period Metallica flicker throughout the album, but Hurt has created a remarkably individual sound for the metal genre. Their intensely anticipated second album, simply titled, Volume II, was released in September of last year.
