Motion City Soundtrack is a leading light in the punk-pop scene. In 2007, their album, Even If It Kills Me, cracked the Top 20 during its first week, becoming the band's highest-charting album to date. Major labels took notice, and by the following summer, Motion City Soundtrack had signed a new contract with Columbia Records.
They wrapped their obligations on the Warped Tour, wrote new material and returned to the studio with blink-182's Mark Hoppus to make My Dinosaur Life last June.
A predilection for organized upheaval explains why Motion City Soundtrack and their new album, My Dinosaur Life, is a study of musical contradictions because without the chaos, there wouldn’t be the calm and without the pain, there wouldn’t be the pop.
For better or worse, it’s Motion City Soundtrack’s constant quest to evolve and challenge themselves as musicians—and people—that keeps fans coming back for more. After all, as the saying goes, to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.
