This pairing features Liturgy - the Brooklyn based transcendental black metal band.
They play metal like it’s a minimalist downtown art/life/religion project in the tradition of dronemasters Glenn Branca, Rhys Chatham and La Monte Young’s Dream Syndicate.
Through their own brand of growling, gnarling, lightning-fast black grind, Liturgy try to find euphoria through dissonance, repetition and volume’turning metal nightmares into something ready for the Dream House.”
-Village Voice
Their debut full-length album, Renihilation, presents a vision of a new American black metal, permanently held to the flame, searing with energy, purged of impurities and form, eternally glowing like a star............................
When Iva Bittova creates music on stage, she plays it with her whole body. Just as she summons all manner of vocal shadings, she uses every inch of her violin to obtain notes and produce sonic effects. She stalks and walks. She gestures and grimaces. She coos and shrieks. Her music is a blend of rock and East European music which she describes as “my own personal folk music.”
Appropriately, her debut music DVD is called Superchameleon and reveals the many sides of her ever-changing musical character.
...................Should make for an outstanding night of music to be sure.
