General Discussion: Knoxville PD and out of town show attendees

Myself and two friends went to see Opeth and Enslaved in Knoxville, TN last night at the Bijou Theater. The show itself was amazing and was worth the 2 1/2 hour drive from Asheville. Sadly the events after were not as pleasant. The Knoxville City Police had set up a literal gauntlet right before the entrance to the 40 East entrance. They made it their point to pull over and interrogate anyone that appeared to have attended the show. Any tiny excuse to serve a citation was eagerly enacted upon. This does not make me want to ever go there again for another show if this is what you have to look forward to after your nights entertainment. I don't know if the local authorities have it in for that particular venue or just the type of "crowd" that last nights show attracted but it did not serve as good public relations for people coming to your city from out of town.

It was Memorial Day Weekend. I am not surprised that there would be road blocks. However, I would be surprised if the Knoxville PD set up that check point to specifically target the people who attended the Opeth show. The show was fantastic. Only thing that pissed me off was the one beer per person crap that the bartender at the Bijou told me was only for that show.

I too saw cops everywhere that weekend, so I don't think it was a profiling kind of thing.
