General Discussion: Asheville's Nova Echo; new EP, free download

This one has been buzzing the social networking sites for a week or so... New 5-song EP from The Nova Echo, Voyager.

My impartial observations after using it as a pizza delivery soundtrack for a night are:

Somewhat more organic than their debut album, lighter vocal effects, a bit more "live mix" edge to the instrumentation.

Digitally composed melodies reminiscent of Owl City but with a harder rock band edge, compares favorably to OneRepublic.

Lyrically, more episodes hinged on the quest for love in the deep space of a lonely universe. Naive enough to appeal to the not-yet-disillusioned teen, yet light-hearted enough to find a soft spot with mature listeners.

The Nova Echo continues to define the local niche for fresh electronic rock, adding highlights from the classic 80s formula to songs that mesh well in modern playlists.
