General Discussion: Tickets and Bots

Ever wondered how when you are there right when they go on sale how all the tickets to some shows are already gone?

There was an interesting review in the Weekend edition of the Wall Street Journal of the new book "Ticket Masters: The Rise of the Concetrt Industry and How the Public Got Scalped." Beyond a history of the rise of Ticket Master, the review gives insight on bots and the new scalpers. Here is a link:

Tickets are not available at the sale start because "in my opinion" ticketing outlets hold back tickets. The best tickets never go onsale because they have been held back. Then they are given to partner brokers, charity websites (http://www.ticketsforcharity.com), promoters, or worst of all ticketmaster's own TICKETSNOW or TICKETEXCHANGE scapler sites.
I know hundreds of brokers and I know not one of them to use a bot or spinner.
