General Discussion: Local (to you) musicians who you love.

I love discovering new local bands, especially if I am lucky enough to catch 'em before they get really popular. Right now, though, I am feeling like I need a little new local music in my life. Introduce me to your favorite local band/artist!

Llama Train!!!

and they just happen to be performing at the Grotto Friday, November 30. i'll be there...if you need an extra reason to check it out. (wink, wink)

I like Senryu, Medford's Black Record Collection, Ben Maney and Countless Sheep, Brent Thompson's Wandering Circus, Christabel and the Jons, Natti Love Joys, Llama Train...man, Knoxville has some good music.

Oh yeah, and there's this killer singer/songwriter that just got engaged to one of my co-workers...

llama train izz the balls, man...grandpa's stash is pretty sticky-icky too....heh.

i also reallllllly love dishwater blonde. they always have a really energized show. and i think cosmo is totally hot.

no props for Garage Deluxe? those guys rock (they also happen to be very nice young men).

Also, my buddy JC (formerly of Garage Deluxe & Left Foot Down) has just recently started a new honky tonk band called JC & The Dirty Smokers. They've only played a few opening gigs so far, but they are a LOT of fun. They've got a great sound that I think is currently lacking in Knox. There are bunches of great honky tonk bands in Nash, but not so much here. good times.

I went to high school with the drummer man of Garage DeLuxe...you're right, great band.

I love Tenderhooks for their very literate and catchy rock. I just saw folksinger Sam Lewis for the first time and thought he was pretty good. Reminiscent of Richard Buckner in that gothic mumbly kind of way. And, of course, Greg Horne is my favorite. He's simply a genius songwriter and mad guitar player. I'd say that even if he wasn't my Beyonce.

i've had a thing for greg horne for a while now. unfortunately, my heart was recently broken when i heard he had proposed to his long time love. i cried for hours. what a lucky girls she is.

Brendon James Wright. Artvandalay (although I hear those guys are nerds)

who cares if Artvandalay are nerds or not, what are we in high school or something? They're tunes are well written w/ some theory behind 'em, that's better than a lot of stuff I hear around town. Plus, when ya see em you will definitely remember them, rather than getting band names confused because all the music sounds the same.

Llama Train is some good stuff...same w/ Grandpa's Stash, I highly recommend checking those guys out!

Left Foot Down, damn that brings back some old memories, they were a tight band...

they may be nerds...but they still manage to rock my face off.

The Dirty Guv'nahs are my favorite local band. Saw em for the first time at Barley's a few weeks ago. Totally blown away! If you haven't seen them, you've got to do it. High energy fun rock and roll that will get everybody moving.
