In the mid-90's, Les Claypool was known as the voice and fleet-fingered bassist of Primus. At some point he auditioned for the bass position in Metallica. (Didn't take) His most recent solo project, "Of Fungi and Foe", synthesizes his wry humor (Red State Girl) and his astonishing chops. According to Claypool, the "music oozed from me in such a natural way that I believe it came as much from my pores as it did my mind." The concert at the Bijou this coming Tuesday, July 7 should be mythic. Dude knows how to put on a show. Make sure you get tickets early.
