  1. Andre Jordan as The Donkey – We all remember the smart-talking donkey from the Disney flick, but how does that translate to the stage? Well, that vital dose of wit comes in the form of Andre Jordan, who has earned stellar reviews in such stage productions as Legally Blonde, Rent, and Toy Story: The Musical. His crowd-pleasing humor is even more of a focal point in Shrek, as he continues to garner praise from audience members and critics alike.
  2. Dance Numbers – Reviews keep buzzing about the choreography in Shrek: The Musical, which abounds in dazzling group numbers and even tap-dancing mice. Anyone who’s seen the original animated film, which comes complete with some interesting moves itself, must be excited to see these translate to the stage. From what we hear, fans aren’t going to be disappointed.
  3. Shrek (Lukas Poost) & Princess Fiona (Liz Shrivener) – With these two stars on stage, people are raving about the charming and relatable spark between the lovable ogre and his princess. Poosts holds a degree in Acting and Musical Theatre from the Brind School at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, while Shrivener is no stranger to the princess role after a national tour as Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The result is a wholly natural and poignant on-stage romance.
  4. Colorful Costumes – As with any fantasy story, the options are endless in creating and imaginative scene using costumes and makeup. Prepare to be dazzled by the creative and oftentimes unexpected look of each character, complete with a memorable Pinnochio, three darling little pigs. and, as any fairy tale must incorporate, a tremendous dragon.
  5. Ageless Entertainment – Whether you attend for the costumes, the musical numbers, or the witty banter, this adaptation of the classic animated film holds something for wondrous eyes of child and the elevated tastes of Broadway-lovers alike. Delving deeper than the child-friendly humor, attentive audience members will pick up on references to classic productions like Les Miserables and other theatre favorites. The humor works on multiple levels – If you’ve seen the film, how could you expect any less?
